As a Montclair NJ photographer, the Rose Garden in Brookdale Park is one of my favorite places for a summer family or maternity session! The garden is quiet and often empty, and the roses add a nice pop of color to your family portraits. Something to keep in mind when considering whether this is the perfect place for your next session – peak bloom time for the Brookdale Rose Garden occurs in June and September.

I suggest starting your Montclair NJ rose garden session about two hours before sunset, so we still get some golden light peeking through the trees in your images.

The Brookdale Rose Garden contains over 500 rose bushes, and about 150 different varieties of roses.

The Brookdale Rose Garden is an especially great location for younger babies. They love exploring in the grass and looking at all of the flowers!

I love how this family chose a soft, neutral color palate for their wardrobe. One of my best tips on preparing for your family session is to choose clothing that is not distracting. We want the focus of your images to be on you and your sweet family, not your clothing!
